Electricity meters are read every three months and the monthly bill is based on estimated average consumption. Customers are encouraged to avoid monthly estimated electricity bills by using either of these two options:
* The Electricity Meter Reading Short SMS Code 30909 can be used at standard sms rates. Four days prior to the bill date on the account a customer should include his/her name, the property’s account number, the meter reading and the contact number.
* You can also submit your electricity meter reading online at: http://www.durban.gov.za/City_Services/electricity/Online%20Forms/Pages/Meter-Reading.aspx
The Water account can also be queried at 080 13 13 013 , which is a toll free number for fixed line calls. The Sizakala Call Centre at 0800 331 011 will also be able to assist.
